#HalfTheStory has been a transformative experience, shaping my personal growth and professional aspirations. As a Teen Advisory Board (TAB) member, I connect with a community of like-minded individuals, building meaningful relationships and fostering innovative ideas. Inspired by the organization’s mission, I secured a grant to integrate the #HalftheStory Social Media U curriculum into my school’s 9th-grade curriculum. Leading the initiative was a rewarding experience, empowering my peers with impactful, thought-provoking concepts. I have also become a content creator, crafting powerful stories and videos that inspire meaningful change and promote a healthier, more intentional relationship with technology. I am so thankful for my experience with #HalftheStory!
#HalfTheStory has been life-changing, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to grow as a digital advocate. I gained invaluable knowledge about addressing issues like algorithmic harm and privacy concerns through the Digital Civics Academy. Joining the Teen Advisory Board connected me with an inspiring community of changemakers, and being chosen to lead an Instagram livestream with the CEO of Peer Health Exchange allowed me to amplify my voice and empower other young people to prioritize mental health online. These experiences have fueled my passion for creating a safer, more compassionate digital world, and I’m forever thankful for #HalfTheStory’s impact on my journey. I am so excited to see what the future has in store for my work with #HalfTheStory!

My experience with #HalfTheStory has been incredibly meaningful. Through the Digital Civics Academy, I found a community of peers and youth advocates who I have stayed in touch with and continue to inspire me everyday. Our trip to the State Capitol in Sacramento was an amazing experience, and showed me the impact youth voices can truly have when mobilized effectively. I was also profoundly grateful to lead a Policy & Advocacy Mentor Meetup for the Digital Civics Academy, where I shared my story and empowered other young advocates to turn their passion into action. #HalfTheStory hasn’t just taught me advocacy skills -- its given me the courage and confidence to make a lasting impact on the world around me, lessons I’ll carry forward for a lifetime.

I absolutely loved participating in the Half the Story event this spring with Melinda Gates! I enjoyed collaborating with other high school students to lead activities for our younger Girls Inc. sisters. Everyone involved with Half the Story was so kind and made the day really fun! I especially enjoyed interviewing Melinda Gates. She was so down-to-earth, and I feel more prepared than ever to launch my own non-profit in the future. I even participated in another Half the Story event this summer with other high school students, and I hope to become a teen facilitator for Girls Inc. Nashville’s launch of Half the Story programming this fall!
